WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE RECIPES COLLECTED? Recipes will be compiled into a physical cookbook, which will be printed and available for sale in fall 2020. More information on pre-ordering a cookbook will be published on Mainspring’s website this summer.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE? The deadline for submitting recipes is July 10, 2020, but early submissions are encouraged.
WHAT KIND OF RECIPES WILL BE INCLUDED? Recipes must be original (or familial) recipes or adapted with credit given. Individuals cannot simply submit a link to a recipe on their favorite food blog or copy a previously published recipe by another person unless that person has given explicit permission. If we have concerns about copyright issues, we will follow up individually.
WILL ALL SUBMISSIONS BE INCLUDED? We hope to include all submissions, but Mainspring reserves the right to edit recipes for duplication, etc. We will contact you if we have concerns or questions!
HOW MANY RECIPES CAN I SUBMIT? Individuals can submit up to five recipes.
IS IT FREE TO SUBMIT? Yes, it is free to submit recipes. The printed cookbooks will be available for purchase. All funds raised from the sale of the cookbook will be used to provide arts and cultural programming for the community.
WHO IS LEADING THIS PROJECT? The Mainspring Community Cookbook is an initiative of Mainspring, a nonprofit arts and culture center located in a long-vacant church building in downtown Caledonia. The Mainspring Community Cookbook project was inspired by traditional church cookbooks, and with the onset of COVID-19 we saw an opportunity to build community through food when large gatherings may not be possible. This project is generously supported by the Caledonia Area Chamber of Commerce and Mainspring’s Founder’s Circle. Mainspring is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing arts and cultural experiences to the residents and visitors of southeast Minnesota.
