About Mainspring

Mainspring is a nonprofit  community arts organization bringing new life to an old Presbyterian church building in downtown Caledonia, Minnesota. 

Mission Statement: Mainspring is a community hub that provides meaningful opportunities for  Houston County residents to connect, inspire, and be inspired. Mainspring celebrates and invests in Houston County’s community, culture, and creatives through events, education, and shared resources.

Mainspring offers accessible and inclusive arts programming to provide meaningful experiences for residents to connect, inspire and be inspired, and grow in a safe space. Mainspring leadership envisions a vibrant rural future that embraces diverse experiences, dialogue across perceived divides, and the expansive creativity of art to collectively discover community solutions. Started by Caledonia-raised Melissa Wray and an energetic board of directors, the Mainspring team creates a space filled with surprising, fun, and meaningful programming to spur community connections, celebrate creative arts, spark new ideas, and enhance Houson County’s economic vitality.
